Joey Hamilton – Lead Instructor
Joey is an award winning tattooist that has been at the forefront of tattooing for many years. Joey’s first television appearance was on A&E television series, “Inked”, and more recently he starred on and won “Spike TV’s” Season 3 Inkmaster television series (winning both the judges and public “popular” votes). Additional notoriety for Joey include his history of high end tattoo experience, having worked in Hart & Huntington, Starlight Tattoo, and Club Tattoo locations in Las Vegas. Joey is also an experienced proprietor and entrepreneur having owned and operated successful tattoo enterprises throughout his career, including Exo Graphix Tattoo Company for over 10 years. Additionally, Joey is a Gulf War combat Veteran that honorably served in the Air Forces Special Operations Command for many years prior to leaving his military career to become an aspiring tattoo artist.
Walter Frank -Tattoo Instructor
Walter started tattooing at Larry Allen’s Anchorage Tattoo Studio in 1999 where he apprenticed and worked until he moved to Phoenix, AZ, and then to Las Vegas, NV. For almost 13 years, he worked at Club Tattoo by the side of some of the tattoo greats, such as Terry “Wookie” Hoffman, Matt Geiogamah, Chris Garcia and Joey Hamilton. Walter has won many awards and trophies over the years, and has been in magazines, online articles and newspapers. One of his many claims to fame came when he appeared in Spike TV’s Season 4 “Inkmaster” where he finished as first runner up. Walter enjoys all styles of tattooing, but it is the attention to detail that he enjoys most and sets him apart from other artists.
Jason Wetzel – Program Director
Jason is a Combat Rescue Officer and Veteran of the Air Force who has represented the United States in over 50 countries as a trainer, evaluator and mentor to leaders all over the world. He is well versed in strategic, operational and tactical management, as well as budgeting and training. Jason was responsible for all rescue operations in Europe and Africa for three years, and commanded and led several Special Operations Units, including the local Las Vegas unit, the 58th Rescue Squadron, Nellis AFB, NV. In addition to becoming a Combat Rescue Officer, he excelled amongst his Special Operations peers as a multiple time winner of Combat Rescue Officer of the Year for Europe and Africa. At the pinnacle of his military career, Jason led hundreds of Special Operations Warriors with a program budget exceeding $320 million annually (for HQ EUCOM and USAFE management). Jason left the military honorably in 2011, and has since applied his knowledge and expertise to successfully build multi-million dollar companies.
Angel Kuo – Academic Director
Angel graduated from the Parsons School of Design from The New School for Social Research, and was certified as an art educator through the Bank Street College in New York City. She has over 20 years of combined experience both as a graphic artist, and as a teacher. She has collaborated on publication projects with companies such as Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Mattel, Sesame Street Workshop, Disney, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and Golden Books Family Entertainment. Angel has been the creative lead of several entrepreneurial companies in a wide range of industries, and views each new endeavor as an opportunity to be creatively and professionally inspired by the people she works with. As an educator, she believes it is integral that academics be accompanied by practical knowledge to best prepare students in becoming real world professionals. To that end, Angel strives to create a balance between structured and open learning environments to meet her students’ individual learning styles and transition them into becoming independent thinkers and creative innovators.
